Tell Charlie what the meter is doing, how often you top up the boiler and where the damp is. From that he knows whether to expect a supply pipe or a heating leak.

Brundall sits on the north bank of the Yare between Norwich and the Broads, and most of the village is twentieth century: bungalows and chalet bungalows on solid floors, with larger houses on riverside plots. Solid floors mean heating pipes in screed, and a leak there shows as a pressure drop long before a stain.
The water is Anglian Water's, as across the rest of Norfolk, and the pipe from the stop tap at the road to the house is the homeowner's. Brundall is about 70 miles by road from Haverhill, and Charlie treats it as part of the Norwich run.

At the house he isolates the incoming main, the heating and the hot water and tests each one. Only the system that is losing water gets the full search.

The camera shows the pipe routes, then listening gear or tracer gas finds the precise point. Charlie marks it on the floor, photographs it and explains the repair.
In a Brundall bungalow the heating runs under the whole floor, and the camera shows every pipe as a warm line through carpet or laminate. A leak reads as a warm smudge.
For the supply pipe from the lane, a ground microphone picks up the sound of escaping water through lawn, gravel or block paving. Readings every metre or so show where it peaks.
The circuit is drained, filled with a light hydrogen mix and scanned with a detector. The gas can only get out at the leak, and it rises through the screed.
We have found leaks in Brundall itself, as well as in Blofield with South Walsham and out at Acle, all within the Broadland and Great Yarmouth council areas, with the most recent in March 2026. Closer to the city the Norwich wards of Eaton, Mancroft and Lakenham have come up. The Brundall and Blofield jobs were bungalows with heating pipes in the floor.
Thorpe St Andrew and Norwich are a few minutes west of Brundall, Poringland is over the river to the south, and Great Yarmouth and Hemsby are at the far end of the A47. Charlie books Brundall jobs on the same days.
Trace and access cover on a home policy pays for locating a hidden leak and for the work of opening up and reinstating afterwards. Charlie's written report records the pressure and meter tests, includes the thermal images and shows the marked leak position, which is exactly what the insurer needs.
