Reports for insurance claims

Complete Leak Detection is based on the Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire border, and covers East Anglia and Greater London. Leak detection from the Suffolk border to King's Lynn, Stevenage to Southend and into north and east London, with the same engineer on every job.

Each visit uses the method the leak calls for, confirms it with a second, and ends with the leak marked and a written report for your plumber or insurer. Emergency leak detection enquiries are answered round the clock on the mobile.

Water leak detection by Complete Leak Detection Acoustic leak detection on a driveway outside a Essex house

The four leaks we see most

Water meter turning with everything off

The leak is on the supply pipe between the meter and the house, often under the drive. Found by listening along it.

Boiler pressure dropping every few days

The heating is losing water into a floor or wall. Found with thermal imaging while the system is hot.

Damp patch or ceiling stain

A pipe, a bathroom fixture or water from outside. Thermal imaging and a moisture meter trace it to the source.

A gas smell that comes and goes

Call the gas emergency service first. Once the supply is safe, tracer gas finds the point on the pipe.

How a visit works

1

You call, Charlie asks the right questions

What you have noticed, when it started, what the property is and where the meter is. That decides the kit on the van.

2

Find and confirm the leak

The leak is located with the method that suits it and confirmed with a second before anything is marked. Nothing is opened up to look.

3

Mark it and report it

The spot is marked and photographed. The report gives the location, method and readings, in a form an insurer accepts.

Leak detection solutions we use

Thermal imaging

A camera that shows the temperature change a leak leaves in a wall or floor. The first look on most jobs.

Acoustic listening

Ground microphones, contact sensors and a correlator that hear water escaping under pressure through soil, concrete and tarmac. For buried supply pipes.

Tracer gas

A hydrogen and nitrogen mix put into an isolated pipe and traced at the surface. Works on plastic pipe, gas pipe and under slabs.

Recent leak detection jobs across the region

Earlier this year we traced a leak under the block paved drive of a bungalow on the north Norfolk coast. The meter was turning with every tap off, and a ground microphone along the supply pipe found a split in the old alkathene a metre from the stop tap. In Ely a family topping the boiler up every few days had a pinhole in a heating pipe under the kitchen screed, found with the thermal camera while the system was hot. In a Canary Wharf flat, a stain on the ceiling below the bathroom turned out to be a shower waste that only let go when the tray flexed. One small opening in each case.
